Abstract:
In this study, we update the taxonomy of the ant genus Cerapachys in China. A recent survey of the leaf litter ant fauna in the Hengduan Mountains yielded a hitherto unknown species of Cerapachys, which we describe here as Cerapachys zhengyangwangi sp. nov. This new species is clearly distinguishable from all the other species in the genus. We provide an updated identification key of the genus Cerapachys based on the worker caste, as well as a diagnostic discussion and high-quality specimen images.
